[2025-2026] English Language Requirements for All Pro-Pilot Programs

To qualify for enrollment in our Pro-Pilot Programs, students must demonstrate an adequate level of English proficiency. If you do not hold an ICAO CPL license with an endorsed ICAO-4 (or higher) English certification, you will be required to take an academic English test within the past two years to demonstrate your English language skills.

If you do not have an English knowledge certificate at the time of admission, or if you are unable to take the test due to geographical limitations (such as unavailability of testing centers in your area), you will be required to take the IELTS Academic Test, achieving a minimum score of 6.0 upon arrival at our training facility in the United States.

Both the United States and Canada have set specific English language requirements for academic student visas. These visas are not only for pilot training but also allow for post-graduation internship opportunities in aviation. Therefore, students must provide one of the following recognized certificates to qualify for their visa:

Important Notice: Changes for U.S. Program Applicants (August 1, 2024)

Following this interview, you will be required to take the IELTS Academic English test after arriving in the United States for training.

Summary of Requirements:

  1. English Proficiency Test: If no ICAO-4 certification, an academic English test is mandatory.

  2. IELTS Test: Minimum score of 6.0 upon arrival at the training facility.

  3. Visa Application: Must furnish one of the recognized certificates for U.S. or Canadian student visas.

Important Note:

This ensures that all students possess the language skills required for effective communication during training and their future aviation careers.

English Test Waivers for Majority English-Speaking Countries

  • Students from the following English-speaking countries are waived from the English language proficiency test requirement for enrollment in academic pilot programs. If you are a citizen of one of these countries, you will not need to submit an English test certificate to qualify for enrollment:

  • Antigua and Barbuda

  • Australia

  • The Bahamas

  • Barbados

  • Belize

  • Canada (Note: Specific visa regulations may apply depending on the applicant’s visa type and the province they are applying from)

  • Dominica

  • Grenada

  • Guyana

  • Ireland

  • Jamaica

  • New Zealand

  • St Kitts and Nevis

  • St Vincent and the Grenadines

  • Trinidad and Tobago

  • United Kingdom

For applicants from these countries, there is no need to take an additional English proficiency exam, as the native language in these countries is English, meeting the requirements for academic enrollment directly.

Important Note:

All other applicants from countries outside this list must present proof of their English proficiency through an academic English test such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, or another recognized test. The required test scores may vary depending on the program and the country of training.

ICAO English Certificates

f you are enrolling in our U.S. Pathway to ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) program and hold an ICAO Commercial Pilot License with an ICAO-4 English certification, you will not be required to take an English test before or after your arrival in the United States. The ICAO-4 English proficiency level is recognized internationally and satisfies the language requirements for the U.S. aviation programs.

However, for all other professional pilot programs, English proficiency tests are mandatory. The United States allows applicants to take the test either before or after arriving in the U.S. for training. On the other hand, Canadian programsrequire applicants to have an English test certificate prior to enrollment in the program, ensuring that you meet the required language standards.

Summary

  1. English Test Waivers: Students from select English-speaking countries are exempt from the language proficiency test requirement.

  2. ICAO English Certificates: If you have an ICAO-4 certified CPL, no English test is required for U.S. Pathway to ATP programs.

  3. Other Applicants: Applicants from non-English-speaking countries must take an academic English test and meet the required score for enrollment.

This process ensures that students have the necessary English proficiency to successfully complete their academic pilot training and professional internships in the aviation industry.
